Dr. Reed takes a person-centered, integrative approach to meet patients where they are and to provide a warm, accepting environment for patients to grow into their fullest self. She was trained as a psychodynamic, relational clinician, but integrates techniques of other evidence-based therapies into treatment, including CBT, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness therapies. She trained extensively in substance abuse treatment, including harm reduction approaches, with both adolescents and adults. Dr. Reed also specializes in the treatment of individuals who identify as LGBTQ+.

Dr. Reed’s passion for this work began as an advocate for reducing mental health stigma across college campuses, co-creating a chapter of an advocacy group on her undergraduate campus. She has volunteered with various organizations over many years, most notably NAMI and SMART Recovery. Dr. Reed has found her home in California, especially in the mountains and beaches, hiking and cycling. She is a strong champion for the mind-body connection and exploring the important ways that our physical health impacts our mental health. She also enjoys cooking, climbing, and any time spent with her senior dog, Cora.

Dr. Reed believes that people have a natural capacity for growth, and therapy provides a supportive relationship where this growth can unfold through empathy and mutual respect. The therapeutic process provides a space of healing through greater self-understanding, compassion, and connection with others.
